Description This is one of a series of bowls that I turned from some spalted sycamore that I got from a local tree worker. The log included a lot of ripple figure, visible in this bowl. Spalting is the work of fungi that grow in the log before it dries. The fungi colour the wood in zones, and often create wandering black lines. These are said to arise where the different fungi encounter each other in the wood. Related
